Teeth Whitening Procedure: without Leaving Home

METHOD #2: HOME TEETH WHITENING
Everyone should realize that these days, almost anyone can get the effect of “dental office” quality teeth whitening without leaving home! “At-Home” teeth whitening has provided formidable competition to the “in-office” power bleaching systems, where large corporate advertising budgets now compete with the comfort of teeth whitening at home.
Until recently, it was pretty complex to whiten your teeth. The difficult thing was that each patient needed to have one of those custom fitted mouthpieces made for them, and for that reason alone, teeth whitening at home was not a viable option for most.
ACTUALLY, 3 DIFFERENT HOME TEETH WHITENING OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE
WHITENING OPTION #1 - BRUSH-ON WHITENING
The concept of brush-on teeth whitening is excellent — merely apply the formula to the teeth, allow it to dry and leave it on your teeth overnight. It seems easy, right?
Actually, brush-on teeth whitening appeals to those who like shortcuts — people who don’t want to take the time to do things right the first time.
There are two big flaws with brush on teeth whitening:
1. When you apply the teeth whitening formula, it is expected that you will allow it to dry on your teeth. This is a great idea in theory, but should the teeth whitening formula get wet (i.e. from licking your teeth or from saliva), parts of the formula can then easily be rubbed off. What do you think happens if part of the teeth whitening formula gets rubbed off? That’s right, your teeth will not be evenly whitened. It ends up being blotchy and patchy.
2. The ingredients, in my opinion, are the second serious problem with brush-on teeth whitening products. A glance at the ingredients on the best-selling brush-on whitener reveals alcohol as the first ingredient. Alcohol is really bad for your breath! Also, most tooth whiteners which are brushed on contain glycerin, which is the principal cause of sensitivity caused by teeth whitening because it draws the moisture out of your tooth enamel.
TEETH WHITENING OPTION #2 - STRIPS YOU APPLY TO YOUR TEETH
Utilizing whitening strips is the second most popular method of home teeth whitening. People are attracted to this home whitening option because it’s easy to use; the strips are simple to apply and no preparation is required. And isn’t it true that everyone loves taking shortcuts? Sadly, these are the results you might get. Let me explain further…
Normally, strips that are applied to the outer surface of the teeth include a strip for the upper teeth and a strip for the lower teeth. Now think this over for a moment… Your teeth aren’t totally flat, are they? Obviously, they have ridges and recesses especially around every tooth. What would happen if you painted a fence, only slathering paint on the outside and not painting the grooves between each board? Wouldn’t this fence look ridiculous? Freshly painted on the outside, but with the spaces between the boards dirty and discolored and still showing the old chipped paint.
You might get a similar result when you use teeth whitening strips. Those dingy cracks will stand out more as your teeth get whiter! In the end, you might look like you have small gaps between your teeth. That certainly is not the result you want.
